As two of the biggest snubs from the NCAA Tournament field, Alabama and Maryland are battling for the chance to play in the NIT Final Four. Get NIT odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Alabama (23-12) won enough games to make it to the NCAA Tournament but committee deemed them not worthy of a bid. Alabama really didn’t win any games against some real quality teams besides their early season win against Villanova and a conference win at home to Kentucky, who was bounced in the first round of the NIT as a 1-seed. The Crimson Tide took out Northeastern and Stanford in the first two rounds of the NIT, both by double digits. In the NIT, the better seed plays a home game so the Crimson Tide is still playing in the state of Alabama.
Maryland (24-12) could arguably be the biggest snub from the NCAA tournament field. They dropped some bad games to teams like Georgia Tech, Boston College and Florida State. But, the Terrapins knocked off Duke at home and then knocked the Blue Devils out of the ACC Conference Tournament. As a 2-ssed in the NIT, Maryland has taken out Niagara and Denver in handily fashion. Maryland will travel away from home where they were just 2-7 in ACC conference play, to take on Alabama.
Alabama is 16-15 against the spread this season and an impressive 12-6 ATS at home. After victories, the Crimson Tide is just 5-10. Maryland is 16-12-1 ATS. On the road, the Terrapins are 4-5-1 and 6-9-1 ATS after wins.
Maryland has been pretty bad this season on the road but I think they get it together against the Crimson Tide. Maryland has shown they have the capability to beat top-tier teams like Duke and can definitely take a team like Alabama at www.sportsbookroom.com.
