The Braves and the Pirates meet for the third consecutive day in Pittsburgh. MLB odds are posted at Bovada sportsbook.
Atlanta (13-2) has been absolutely scorching hot to start the season and have shown no signs of slowing down. It seems like all they do is hit home runs and scored all six runs against the Pirates on Thursday off home runs. The Braves have won 11 of their last 12 games with the last lost coming on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals. Chris Johnson has been very hot at the plate, hitting .438 with 21 hits as the Upton brothers just pound the ball out of the yard. Justin Upton is leading the crew with nine so far on the season and Evan Gattis trails him with five. Gattis also has drove in 12 runs on the season behind Upton’s 13. Paul Maholm will start on Saturday and has had an awesome start for him. Maholm has won all three of his starts and has yet to give up a single run.
The Pirates (7-8) are still hanging on and have not even began to lose sight of being .500. They have won four of their last six games entering the game against the Braves on Friday. Starling Marte and Garrett Jones are both hitting .333 and Andrew McCutchen has driven in the most runs with 11. James McDonald is 1-2 in his three starts and will start on Saturday.
The Braves are 11-4 against the spread and the Pirates are 7-8 ATS.
The Braves are the better team and have been playing exceptionally so far this season. I think they will win because of how great Maholm has been on the mound this season but first verify sports odds.
