The Houston Rockets the Atlanta Hawks will meet in the season’s first game played in Atlanta at the Philips Arena. NBA odds are available at Bovada sportsbook.
Atlanta comes into the season on the heels of what their fans probably thought was a very positive off-season. They were able to trade away the big contracts of Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams which instantly gives them flexibility for the future. They also added some very nice pieces in free agency including Lou Williams, Anthony Morrow, and Kyle Korver which will give the Hawks much more depth than they have had in years past. The organization will need Josh Smith to step up and be the main man on this team for them to achieve the success they have sustained for the past four or five seasons.
The Rockets come into this game with a 1-0 record after beating Detroit in their first game of the season by a score of 105 – 96. The star of that game was newly acquired James Harden who scored 37 points and dished out 12 assists in his Rockets debut. It looks as though Harden is adjusting well to life as a starter and the Rockets also have to be happy with the performances of Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik who both had solid games in their Rockets debut as well.
We really liked what we saw from the Rockets in their opener, but this will be an entirely different game against what is a much better team. We look for the Hawks to win their season opener will take them as a favorite at home in this game at online sports books.
