One of the biggest rivalries in all of sports in renewed in the series just after Rivalry Week. The Red Sox and the Yankees square off once again in Yankee Stadium after New York won the first game. Check the MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Red Sox (33-23) could not get much going against CC Sabathia in the first game of the series with the Yankees. Boston actually had more hits than the Yankees, eight, but could not get more than a single run on the board. The run came in the seventh inning when Mike Napoli drove in Dustin Pedroia. After that, Sabathia was pulled and the Red Sox only managed two hits the rest of the year, both against Mariano Rivera, who earned his 19th save of the year. Pedroia was the big performer for the Red Sox, getting three of the teams eight hits and he scored the only run.
The Yankees (31-23) are back at it after losing four games in a row to the Mets in the Rivalry Week series. Sabathia outdueled Jon Lester to improve his record to just 5-4 on the season while Lester dropped to 6-2. The hitters from second to fourth in the order were virtually non-existent on Friday. The three of them combined for just one hit and six strikeouts. Ichiro made up for them with two hits, an RBI and two runs.
The Red Sox are just 27-29 against the spread while the Yankees are now 30-24 ATS after losing a couple in a row.
In another decent pitching matchup I am going to pick the Red Sox. Felix Doubront has had a good year and the bats will come alive and Boston will able to score some runs off Hughes so redeem sportsbook promotion codes.
