The fading Pittsburgh Pirates hope to keep their postseason hopes alive with a win over the Chicago Cubs. All odds for all games can be found at Top Bet sportsbook.
The slumping Pirates picked up a 7-6 victory over the Cubs Saturday for only their third win in eleven contests. In this period, the offense has struggled to score consistently which has forced the pitching to carry the load which has been unsuccessful. Even in Saturday’s win, the Pirates tried to give it away with a 7-4 ninth inning lead that melted away with the Cubs getting the winning runs on base. The Pirates will look to Jeff Locke this afternoon to secure the win on Sunday in his third start of 2012. Locke pitched well last time out in a 4-2 loss to the Cubs with two runs given up on seven hits through six frames in a no decision.
The Cubs are out of it and apparently their goal is to take as many playoff hopefuls as possible with them. The playoff hopeful might just be Pittsburgh whom Chicago has beaten in four of the last five meetings with the lone loss coming Saturday. Overall, Chicago has won six of eight and just missed out Saturday when their ninth inning come back came up just short. Chris Volstad is scheduled to be on the mound in Sundays series finale’. Volstad has struggled for the majority of the year but has shown signs of turning things around by winning three of four but still struggled with pitch counts.
We think Pittsburgh will do enough this afternoon to win because of the sheer importance of the game. We will be taking them on the moneyline so pick up sportsbook promo codes.
