The Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates play the finale of their three game set tonight at Wrigley Field. Jeff Locke and Edwin Jackson are the probable starters respectively. Find MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Pirates are going for the sweep today after beating the Cubs 6-2 yesterday. Pedro Alvarez has been on fire lately homering in the fourth and driving in three. They turn to Jeff Locke today who in 12 starts this season has been rock solid with a 5-1 record, 2.45 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. In his last 23 innings, he has given up a total of three runs all of which came in his last start in Atlanta. Excluding Locke’s last start against the Braves, in his previous 26 innings on the road he has given up just one run. The 25-year-old right-hander looks to extend his perfect May record into June. He has only received two decisions, both wins, in his last seven starts. The Pirates currently are four back of the Cardinals for first place in the Central.
For Edwin Jackson, his first year with the Cubs has been nothing short of a nightmare. He enters 1-8 with a 6.29 ERA and 1.67 WHIP. The right-hander has lost five out of his last six decisions and has given up 28 runs in his last 30 innings. This makes you wonder why he is still in the big leagues with that kind of performance. His last start against the Diamondbacks, his former team, Jackson surrendered 12 hits, three walks and gave up five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. Five of his eight losses have come at Wrigley field and the Cubs have lost five out of their last six.
Jackson’s ERA is disgraceful. Pittsburgh is looking to sweep and gain ground in the division. I’ll take the Pirates and to do so Click Here.
