The Cubs and Cardinals will play the finale of their three game set tonight in St. Louis. Edwin Jackson starts for Chicago while Jake Westbrook goes for St. Louis. Find out the MLB odds at Top Bet sportsbook.
Chicago currently stands in fourth place in the NL Central and has lost 4 of their previous five games. Edwin Jackson, who has struggled mightily this season, has surprisingly pitched very well his last two starts. Against the Mets and Pirates he surrendered just nine hits and two earned runs in 13 innings pitched, giving him a 3-8 record on the season. While his season ERA is 5.40 and WHIP is 1.55, in the month of June his ERA is just 3.38. Jackson has won his last two starts and looks to continue this stretch tonight against the first place team in the division on the road. As a team, the Cubs are 13-19 outside of Wrigley this season.
Jake Westbrook is making his second start since returning from the disabled list tonight. In his previous outing, he gave up eight hits and three earned runs in five innings in Miami. For the season he is 2-2 with a 2.05 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, so he did show encouraging signs before the injury. In his first home start, against the Reds, this season he went the distance giving up just five hits. St. Louis is 2.5 games up on those very Reds for first place in the NL Central and are 20-12 at home.
I see Westbrook bouncing back tonight and getting himself back in the win column. I’ll take the Cards against their division foe and to play St Louis Click Here.
