On the season Cueto is 5-2 and has an ERA of 2.82. Liriano is 16-8 with an ERA of 3.02. Both starters have low WHIP’s and allow few base runners. The weather forecast for Pittsburgh calls for clouds in the area but no precipitation. The temperature should no fall below 60 degrees making for ideal conditions and no possible rain delays that could force early exits from both starting pitchers. Liriano has pitched extremely well at home as the left hander is 8-1 with an ERA of 1.47 in 73 2/3rd innings of work. His WHIP is 0.96 pitching in front of the home folks in the 2013 campaign. Cueto in 27 2/3rd innings pitching on the road has a WHIP of just 1.16. This is Cueto’s second start since returning off the disabled list. He allowed one earned run and three hits in seven innings pitched on September 28th at home to the New York Mets.
