The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds continue their series on Tuesday from St. Louis. All MLB odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Cardinals are just one win away from a repeat trip to the playoffs and clinching the NL wild-card spot. They are in the situation after defeating the Reds yesterday in the opener of the series. The Cardinals will look to veteran Chris Carpenter to hopefully seal their playoff fate tonight. Carpenter has just pitched 11 innings this season, and is hoping to round into shape to be a contributor in the upcoming postseason.
While the Reds have sewed up the division long ago they are still playing for home field advantage. They caught a break yesterday as the Nationals lost so they are still in a flat-footed tie with the Nats for home-field advantage. They will send Mat Latos to the mound tonight who has won his last three decisions. Latos has had an impressive season overall pitching to a 3.52 ERA in 204 innings of work.
With Latos on the mound and still with something to play for we like the Reds in this spot. Expect the Reds to get to Carpenter and because of this we will take Cincinnati on the moneyline at the best sports books.
