The Reds won yesterday 4-3 in 10 innings on a walk off home run by Jay Bruce in the bottom of the 10th inning. Bronson Arroyo got hit around in the win, giving up 12 hits and two earned runs. Today, they turn to Homer Bailey who enters with a 4-4 record, 3.47 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. He has thrown 83 innings and has struck out exactly 83 batters this season. He has won three out of his last four decisions including rallying his team to a 6-2 victory in Chicago in his last start. Bailey went eight innings giving up four hits and two walks, while striking out eight. In his last home start against the Rockies, Bailey gave up six hits in seven innings and three earned runs. The Reds are 23-11 at home and have won two in a row.
The Brewers meanwhile are currently in last place in the NL Central. They are 12.5 games behind St. Louis for first place and carry an 11-19 road into today’s game. Gallardo is 5-6 with a 4.47 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. His last road start in Miami he was dynamic giving up just four hits and no earned runs while striking out four. He has won just two out of his last seven decisions.
