Kansas comes into this game on an absolute roll winning 12 of 13 games with their only loss coming to Baylor in the Big 12 Conference Tournament. Kansas comes into the game with wins over Detroit, Purdue, and NC State. The latter two have come down to the end and have shown that they can get defensive stops when they need to. Against NC State the Jayhawks just shot 37.5% from the field, but made enough scrappy plays to come away with a win. Their defense was stifling holding the high powered Wolfpack to just 28% shooting from the field. On the offensive side the Jayhawks were led by Thomas Robinson who scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
UNC also comes into this game riding a streak of their own as winners of their last 12 out of 13. Their only loss came in the conference championship as well vs. Florida St. The Tar Heels cruised to victories vs. Vermont and Creighton in the first two rounds. Their Sweet 16 matchup went to overtime vs. Ohio, but in the end the Tar Heels outlasted the Bobcats by outscoring them 10-2 in the overtime session. Ohio was able to stay in the game because of the three point shot as they hit 12 on the game. UNC’s offense was led by Tyler Zeller who had a monster game with 20 points and 22 rebounds. While Reggie Bullock had a stellar game as well with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
This may be the game where the loss of point guard Kendall Marshall hurts UNC the most. The Tar Heels will need a stellar defensive effort to make up for the loss and to be able to keep pace with the Jayhawks who are at full strength. With all of that said while we like UNC before the Marshall injury we are going to stick with them in this one as well to bet at best sportsbooks online.
