The Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates will meet today for game one of their series from Colorado. All odds for this game are constantly updated at Bovada sportsbook.
The Rockies have one of the worst records in baseball and just plain old are not playing well at all. They are 14.5 games in back of the division and clearly look to be in rebuilding mode for next season. Tonight they will start Jeff Francis who has actually pitched pretty well since coming back from injury. Although he has a 5.19 ERA a lot of that was accumulated in one start which was absolutely awful.
The Pirates are in a similar position in the standings as they were a year ago and last year they folded. It remains a question to see how they respond to success this season. They will need to improve their road record in order to make a serious playoff push and will look to Jeff Karstens to get the series off to a good start tonight. In just 32 innings of work Karstens has a 3.94 ERA.
Colorado is 4-1 in their last five game one of a series, 1-5 in their last six games as a home favorite, and 5-1 in Francis’ last six starts. Pittsburgh is 11-4 in their last 15 games overall, 13-5 in their last 18 games against a left handed starter, and 3-9 in Karstens’ last 12 starts against the N.L. West. Pittsburgh is 5-11 in their last 16 games in Colorado.
This game is being played in Colorado and both pitchers while adequate are not anything special. This is why we like over for total runs scored in this game but before betting read a sports book review.
