Colorado won on Friday and couldn’t follow that up with a win Saturday as the Rockies fell behind early and didn’t have enough gas in the tank with a 4-3 defeat to San Diego. The slumping Rockies have now dropped eight of ten with the offense having issue putting runs on the scoreboard. Alex White gets the start in the final game of the series looking for his third win of 2012. White has some interesting numbers with only 88 innings pitched on 19 starts as he has struggled with pitch counts the entire year.
The San Diego faithful have to be wondering where this team has been all season as they have been getting better as the year has progressed. The Padres put another one in the win column Saturday with the pitching leading the way in a 4-3 victory to give the team wins in eight of ten. The difference in this game was starter Casey Kelly who gave up all three runs but just two were earned over six frames. Rookie left hander Andrew Werner will look continue the solid pitching tonight and has had a solid start to his career with four consecutive quality starts. Werner has not given up more than two runs in any start and has gone at least six innings as well.
