On Wednesday Stephen Drew and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits each and Seth Smith had a hit as the A’s scored two runs on eight hits. On the mound Brett Anderson left early after allowing three hits and three runs over just 2.1 innings to fall to 4-2 on the year. For Thursday’s game Oakland starts Tom Milone who has won four of his last five starts. For the season Milone has allowed 183 hits and 74 earned runs while striking out 130 over 174.2 innings of work for a 3.81 ERA.
Detroit is 6-2 in their last eight games as a favorite, 36-17 in their last 53 home games, and 2-5 in Sanchez’s last seven starts. Oakland is 13-4 in their last 17 home games, 47-22 in their last 69 games overall, and 5-1 in Milone’s last six starts.
