The AL East leading Red Sox face the Tigers from Detroit’s Comerica Park. Find MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Detroit Tigers have stumbled at tines this season but with the AL Central coming up weak this season they continue to lead. The Tigers are 5-5 in their last 10 games, 23-12 at home this season, and they have a 3.5 game lead in the American League Central. For game one against the Red Sox the Tigers start Jose Alvarez who makes his second career start. In his first outing Alvarez allowed three hits and a run while striking out seven over 6.0 innings for the win and a 1.50 ERA.
The Boston Red Sox continue to lead the AL East but it is shaping up to be a tough battle all the way to the end. The Red Sox are 5-5 in their last 10 games, 21-15 on the road this season, and they lead the division by 1.5 games over the Orioles. For game one against the Tigers the Red Sox start John Lackey who is greatly improved over the pitcher we saw a year ago. For the season Lackey has allowed 62 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 56 over 64.1 innings for a 4-5 record and a 3.08 ERA.
Detroit is 15-6 in their last 21 games against the AL East, 7-3 in their last 10 games against a right-handed starter, and 23-8 in game one of a series.
Lackey has bounced back nicely this season. Even though they are on the road I like the Sox at the sportsbooks.
