The Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays square off tonight in South Florida. Max Scherzer will start for the Tigers while Alex Colume will get the nod for the Rays. Look for the MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
Detroit enters tonight’s contest in first place in the AL Central, 2.5 games in front of the Cleveland Indians. Max Scherzer has been absolutely dominant this season for the Tigers, with an 11-0 record, 3.05 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. In 103 1/3 innings pitched this season, he has struck out an astounding 122 batters. He has won his last four decisions, three of which came at Comerica Park. In his last start against the Red Sox, Scherzer tossed seven innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs while striking out six. Every single one of his wins this season has been a quality start, and his team has provided him with the most run support of the entire Tigers pitching staff. Detroit is 26-15 at home this season and has won five of their last ten games.
The Rays come in fourth place, 5.5 games back of the Red Sox for first place in the AL East. Rookie Alex Colume is making his third career start. He has tossed 10 innings this season without allowing an earned run, but has a WHIP of 1.70. In his last appearance against the Yankees, he lasted just 4 1/3 innings surrendering five hits and five walks, but did not allow an earned run in his no decision. It’s hard to go against the streaking Scherzer at home against ta rookie, so I won’t do it. Take the Tigers at online sportsbooks.
