The Euro Cup continues with pool play as the defending champ Spain takes on Italy from Gdansk, Poland. All European Championship odds can be found at Just Bet sportsbook.
Spain comes into this tourney as the defending Euro Cup champs as well as the defending World Cup champs. The team will largely feature the same stellar players that led Spain to both of those titles. They will however be missing David Villa and Carlos Puyol who will both miss the tourney because of injury. One of the biggest concerns the team will face will be the possible fatigue that may set in for members of the team that are coming off of highly successful club campaigns during which they endured long and hard fought seasons. They may have some concerns in their back end, but this team is primed for another serious run at a major tournament victory.
You will notice that the Italian side has fully transformed their national club with younger players. They will be missing Dominico Crisito due to the ongoing match fixing scandal and Giuseppe Rossi will miss play because of an injury. With a young team the Italians come into this tourney with tempered expectations which is rare for them to say the least. Will they relish this role and make a big run? A solid opening match against Spain will go a long way in determining that.
Even though Italy is a slight underdog, we are going to go with them to both win and cover the very small spread as well. We think the Italians will be the surprise team of Euro 2012 at best online sportsbooks.
