The Indians (26-18 entering Wednesday night’s game) had some trouble with the Tigers in their last series. Cleveland won five games in a row before these two games against Detroit. The Indians’ streak consisted of a four game series sweep of the Seattle Mariners and a victory against the Phillies. During that streak, Justin Masterson improved his record to 7-2 on the year and defeated ace Felix Hernandez. In the loss against the Tigers, Max Scherzer got another win as the pitcher and is now 6-0 on the season. Boston (28-19) has been playing decent in their recent games as they have lost two of their last three but won six of their last eight. In their last series, the other Sox team, the White Sox, took two out of the three in Chicago. Boston won the last game of the series and Clay Buchholz got the win. Buchholz is now 7-0 on the season.

Baltimore (25-21) won their last two games, both against the Yankees, and now look to take that with them to Toronto. It has been a long time since the Twins (18-25) have won a baseball game. Ten days ago, the Twins beat the White Sox in Minnesota by the score of 10-3. The problem is, the Twins have not won a game since. Eight games in a row have seen the Twins as the losing team. Minnesota was a game above .500 before they took this huge dive and now they are sitting in fifth in the AL Central. The Yankees (28-17) are atop of their divison, the American League East, and playing some good baseball right now. The Pacers (0-0) had some difficulty with the New York Knicks in the last round but they were able to bounce them in Game 6 in Indiana. The Heat (0-0) cruised through the series with the Chicago Bulls after dropping the first game in Miami. They came back by winning four games in a row and ended it in five games. Miami has only played nine games this postseason heading into the Indiana series.

The Pacers are now 8-4 against the spread in the playoffs while the Heat are now 6-3 in their postseason.

Ramon Ortiz will start for Toronto on Tuesday. Ortiz is 1-1 in his two starts on the year.
