While Ohio St. came up short in the Big 10 title game vs. Michigan St. they are continuing their solid play in the tournament all the way to a Final Four birth. The Buckeyes have gotten to the National Semifinal by winning via two blowouts and two games they won by 7 points each. In the regional championship game they defeated top seeded Syracuse by a score of 77-70. The Buckeyes feature a balanced offensive and defensive attack which has been key for them in their recent run. In their win vs. Syracuse the Buckeyes dominated the boards with 14 offensive rebounds taking advantage of the absence of Syracuse center Fab Melo. The dominance inside also led to then going 31 of 42 from the free throw line. Jared Sullinger led the Buckeyes with a game high 19 points and Lenzelle Smith, Deshaun Thomas, and William Buford were all key contributors scoring in double figures.
Kansas advances to the Final Four after suffering early exits the past two seasons. The Jayhawks always have big expectations, but their route to the Final Four was a tough one. They blewout Detroit in their first game, but won very close three point decisions in the next two rounds vs. Purdue and NC State. They won the regional final with a commanding second half run which led them to winning going away 80-67 vs. North Carolina. Kansas shot 46% from the field in that game and was also solid from the line shooting 18 of 24. The Kansas was the difference however as they held UNC to just 22% shooting in the second half. Al five starters for the Jayhawks were in double figures led by Tyshawn Taylor who had 22 and Thomas Robinson who had 18 points and 9 rebounds.
On paper these two teams are about as equal as it gets. However, we feel that Ohio State is playing a little better coming in and presents more matchup problems for the Jayhawks. So we are willing to lay the points and go with the Buckeyes with the wager at online sports books.
