The Rockets and the Lakers meet up in one of the most important games of the season with immense playoff implications. Find NBA odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Rockets (45-36) have already clinched their playoff spot but they can still drop in the Western Conference standings. If the Rockets lose this game to the Lakers, they will drop to the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. The problem with that is the Rockets will have to play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round instead of the San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder are a much more explosive team that has been a lot hotter than the Spurs in the latter portion of the season. Houston is just 6-4 in their last 10 games and just lost to the Suns in Phoenix. The Suns are last place in the West. The Rockets have been bad on the road with just a 16-24 record.
The Lakers (44-37) are currently sitting in eighth place and can finish there, in seventh or not even in the top eight. With a victory over Houston, the Lakers will pass the Rockets and take the seventh spot in the West and eliminate the Utah Jazz from the playoffs. With a loss and a Utah loss to the Grizzlies, the Jazz are still out and the Lakers will finish eighth with Houston in seventh. If Utah beats the Grizzlies and the Lakers lose to the Rockets, Utah will pass LA for eighth and the Lakers’ season will be over.
The Rockets are 41-39-1 against the spread and the Lakers are 33-46-2 ATS.
The Rockets are better, especially because of the loss of Kobe. With that said, I think the Lakers win at home and take the seventh spot in the West and to take LA Click Here.
