The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers meet tonight on NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football. NFL odds are at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Chiefs came into this season with high hopes and have failed to meet expectations to say the least. They sit at 1-6 and are among the worst teams in the league and look to be headed towards a top 5 pick in the upcoming 2013 draft. Matt Cassel has been an overall disappointment since coming over from the Patriots as a free agent and the Chiefs even tried to replace him with Brady Quinn of all people. The Chiefs looked very bad in their last game versus the Raiders and will look from entering free fall mode when they face the Chargers tonight. The Chiefs will look to get the ball into the hands of running back Jamaal Charles more often this week after he inexplicably only had 5 rushing attempts last week against Oakland.
San Diego enters this week coming off of a horrible loss to the Browns last week in a game that was played in rough weather conditions up in Cleveland. Even though the weather was bad they still were unable to score a touchdown against one of the worst defenses in the league. The Chargers now trail the Broncos by 2 full games and will need to win tonight to have any chance of keeping up with Denver who is playing excellent football right now. Look for Philip Rivers to try and get back on track tonight against a suspect Kansas City defense as he still gets used to his new arsenal of receivers in San Diego.
San Diego usually plays a lot better in the confines of Qualcomm Stadium than they do on the road. We also see no signs at all that the Chiefs are turning things around in the slightest. This is why we are going to take San Diego as home favorites in this game at the best sports books.
