The Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins square off tonight in Minnesota for the first game of their series. Jeremy Guthrie and Samuel Deduno are the respective starters. MLB odds are updated at Bovada sportsbook.
The Royals, have surprised a lot of people this season. They are in third place in the AL Central, 6.5 games back of the Tigers and have but have won four of their last ten. Jeremy Guthrie enters with a 7-5 record and 4.20 ERA to go with a 1.36 WHIP. He has won two of his last three starts, but lost his most recent one against the Rays. He surrendered eight hits while giving up four earned runs. In his last two home starts combined however, he has given up 12 hits and just three earned runs over 12 1/3 innings pitched.
The Twins currently stand in fourth place in the AL Central, but only seven back of the division leading Tigers. Deduno enters with a 3-2 record, 3.72 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. In his last start in Cleveland, he surrendered six hits and four earned runs in six innings while walking two and striking out six. In his last win against the Tigers he pitched seven strong, giving up seven hits and two earned runs while walking just one. The Twins have won five of their last ten games and are 19-17 at home this season. They are coming off a 5-3 loss against the Miami Marlins yesterday.
Neither of these pitchers are horrible so I’ll grab the under in this matchup given the limited power in both lineups at www.sportsbookroom.com.
