In an Opening Day series that includes two teams not in the same division, the Reds and Angels, two preseason division favorites, look to get off to a hot start to the season. Get MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Angels pretty much look like a video game or a fantasy baseball lineup. Their lineup could be undoubtedly the best in all of the big leagues. They lead things off with rookie sensation Mike Trout who was absolutely remarkable last year in his debut year. Following Trout, Erick Aybar has the ability to get on base and can steal some bases. After Aybar, the lineup is ballooned with a bunch of power. Albert Pujols will hit third looking to pick up his production after going into a slump season for his standards, only putting away 30 home runs. Hitting clean up will be Josh Hamilton, an acquisition picked up from the Texas Rangers. Hamilton hit over 40 home runs last year and drove in 128 runs.
The Reds have pretty high standards when looking at this season to come. Many experts have projected them to take the NL Central crown after winning the title last season. Eventual World Series champions, SF Giants, in a fierce seven game series, booted Cincinnati from the playoffs last year. Offensively, the Reds will be led by Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto and Ryan Ludwick in the heart of their lineup. Pitching wise, Cincinnati features Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, Bronson Arroyo and Homer Bailey.
This is a tough pick because of how good both these teams are expected to be. I am going to go with the Angels because of their power throughout the lineup and with Jered Weaver on the mound to start things off at online sportsbooks.
