Kobe Bryant suffered a severe ankle injury when he came down on the ankle of Dahntay Jones after a jump shot and is currently out indefinitely for the Lakers (34-32). The Lakers playoff hopes were looking more and more solid but now they look to be taking a turn for the worst. The Lakers lost on Wednesday but won the four games previous to that. In one meeting with Indiana earlier this year, the Lakers were beat by 79-77.
Things have been looking good for the second best team in the East. Indiana (40-24) is over nine games behind the Eastern-leading Heat but are right in the thick of the battle for the second seed.
