The Diamondbacks got themselves out to an early lead on Monday, but that was short lived in their loss to the Marlins. They scored just three runs on nine hits and Joe Saunders was crushed on the mound allowing nine runs in just three innings of work. Tonight Arizona will send Trevor Cahill to the mound who has lost two of his last three decisions. For the season Cahill is pitching to a 3.75 ERA in 151 innings of work.
The Marlins have also had a rough season, but won in a big way on Monday. They were led by Giancarlo Stanton’s two home runs and the team blasted 20 hits in all en route to the win. Tonight the Marlins will send Ricky Nolasco to the mound was lost six of his last seven starts. Nolasco has allowed 166 hits in 144 innings of work this season.
Arizona is 4-1 in their last five games overall, 10-5 in their last 15 games as a favorite, and 5-2 in Cahill’s last seven starts as a favorite. Miami is 7-14 in their last 21 road games, 4-1 in their last five games two of a series, and 0-4 in Nolasco’s last four road starts. Miami is 5-2 in Nolasco’s last seven starts against Arizona.
