The Miami Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks play the finale of their three game set tonight in Arizona. Jose Fernandez will start for the Marlins while Trevor Cahill gets the nod for Arizona. Research the MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Arizona stands in first place currently in the NL West, a half a game up on the Colorado Rockies. However they enter having lost four of their last five games. Trevor Cahill tries to turn it around tonight; he enters with a 3-8 record, 3.96 WHIP and 1.32 ERA. In his last three starts he has been less than stellar, however giving up 23 hits, seven walks and 15 earned runs totaling a 9.42 ERA. His last home start against the Giants he surrendered nine hits and eight earned runs over 3 2/3 innings. Cahill has lost four straight decisions and has not won since May 17th against these very Marlins. The D’backs as a team are 17-15 at home this season.
The Marlins stand in last place in the NL East, 18.5 games behind Atlanta. Fernandez, will start tonight and he has been impressive this season. He comes in with a 4-3 record to go with a 3.11 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. He has won his last two starts and has not lost this month. In June he has pitched 20 innings surrendering 12 hits, four earned runs, and struck out 25 batters. In his last win he gave up six hits and two earned runs over seven innings while striking out 10.
I’ll side with the under in this matchup as runs should come at a premium tonight at www.sportsbookroom.com.
