The struggling Marlins look to beat the Dodgers for the second day in a row in Los Angeles. Check MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Marlins (11-25) entered the Dodgers series on a bit of a decline. They were just swept by the Padres, who really are not a great team, and lost two out of four to the Phillies. In the 5-4 win against the Dodgers, Derek Dietrich was just 1 for 4 but hit a home run with two men on in the fourth inning to really help the Marlins defeat Los Angeles. Jose Fernandez started on the mound an received the win after going six innings and giving up three runs on eight hits. Steve Cishek was given the safe in his one inning of work. Kevin Slowey will make his eighth start of the season on Saturday. Slowey is just 1-2 and Miami has only won three games when he has started, but Slowey has an ERA of 1.81, a terrific number for him.
Los Angeles (13-21) is in absolutely dreadful form. The Dodgers are now eight games below .500 and have now lost eight games in a row and have not won in the month of May yet. LA was swept by two different teams and loss two other times during this stretch. Hyun-Jin Ryu will try to get the Dodgers out of this slump and Ryu is 3-2 on the year.
The Marlins are 20-16 against the spread, which is surprising considering their record. Los Angeles is 12-22 ATS, which is not all that surprising.
I think this will be the game that the Dodgers finally get a win in May. Ryu is a solid starter and they have way too good of a team to lose eight games in a row, with two of them being against this Marlins team at online sportsbook usa.
