The Marlins (0-3) definitely have not started the year in the way they would have liked but their first series was against the reigning NL East Champions, the Washington Nationals. The Nats dominated with their pitching and the Marlins never really had a real chance. The Marlins only scored one run in their three game series with the Nationals. They did face tough pitching in Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmerman, but one run in three games is not the way to start a season. The Marlins will start Alex Sanabia on Friday. The Mets (2-1) opened up their season with a three game series at home against the San Diego Padres. New York won the first two games of the series and put up 19 runs on the board in the process. In game three, the Mets all of a sudden couldn’t get anything going offensively and lost to the Padres 2-1. John Buck is off to a blistering start for the Mets offensively as he is 6 for 12 to start the year, with two home runs and five runs batted in. Jeremy Hefner will make his first start of the year for the Mets; Hefner was in the bullpen last season.
