The Miami Marlins travel up the coast for a matchup with their NL East rival New York Mets Friday night. Jose Fernandez takes the mound for the Marlins while Matt Harvey gets the nod for New York. Check the MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Harvey has been nothing short of spectacular so far this season with a perfect 5-0 record and stellar 2.17 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Ironically the last placed Marlins have hit Harvey hard this year. In two starts against them, including his most recent one, Harvey pitched 10 1/3 innings giving up 17 hits, four walks and five earned runs. In his last three starts Harvey has a 4.71 ERA, two of those coming at home. New York’s game against Washington yesterday was postponed, so they got a head start back to Queens. They are 3-6 in their last nine games at Citi field six out of ten overall.
Miami comes into New York having been swept by the Phillies, however took all three from the Mets the series before. Jose Fernandez enters the matchup with a 3-3 record and a solid 3.34 ERA and 1.16 whip. In his start against New York he went seven innings without giving up a run and earned the win striking out eight in the process. This was a nice recovery from his previous outing in Tampa where he only lasted 3 1/3 innings throwing 87 pitches and giving up four earned runs. The young Marlins still struggle to score though, ranking dead last in the league. Miami hasn’t won a road game since May 10th, losing ten straight during that stretch.
You have to believe Harvey will be motivated to have a better outing against Miami this time around, especially at home. Not much value at -210 but that’s the safe play here at best sportsbooks online.
