The Marlins take on the Nationals in the second game of the season for each team and the second of three in this season opening series. Find MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Marlins had a tough time against the Nationals the first time these two went at it on Monday. The Marlins were only able to muster three hits off of Stephen Strasburg, who continues to look exceptionally strong as a young ace. Juan Pierre, Giancarlo Stanton and Placido Polanco were the only players able to get hits off Strasburg. Stanton’s hit was a double in the first inning. Nolasco pitched for the Marlins and only gave up three hits in six innings of work. He did give up both runs, however. Still, not a bad showing at all, he just needed some help from the bats. Wade LeBlanc will get the start for the Marlins on Thursday. LeBlanc pitched out of the bullpen last season.
The Nationals’ young stars are shining a little brighter after their performance to start the season. Pitcher Stephen Strasburg pitched seven innings and gave up just three hits, and did not give up a run. Strasburg retired 19 straight batters at one point in the game. Bryce Harper, the young phenom, came through at the plate with two home runs to start the year. Both homers were solo shots as the Nationals only scored two runs. An impressive start for sure but they are going to need a more overall performance in the future.
The Nationals covered the spread in the first game.
My pick is the Nationals again. They have a more complete lineup than Miami and Zimmerman is a solid pitcher going for the Nationals in game two at www.sportsbookroom.com.
