Michigan came into the tournament in a bit of a slump but has turned it around in an incredible way. They took care of business against South Dakota State and then destroyed VCU in a game that surprised a lot of people. The Wolverines beat VCU by 25 points to advance to the Sweet 16. In that round, Michigan faced the top seed in Kansas and won that game in dramatic fashion. Needing a three-pointer in the final five seconds, Wooden award winner Trey Burke came through and pushed the game to overtime. Michigan won the game in the extra period and then had no trouble with Florida in the Elite 8. They beat the Gators by 20 points.
Syracuse had a similar road to the Final Four as their fellow 4-seed. The Orange were beat by almost 20 points in the Big East Championship but also rebounded very well. They beat Montana by almost 50 and then Cal to advance to the Sweet 16. They played exceptional behind Michael Carter-Williams in their win over top seed Indiana. In the regional final they were able to get matched up with Marquette, who they beat by almost 20 points to reach the Final Four.
Michigan is 19-16-1 against the spread and has covered the spread in all four games in the Tournament. Syracuse is 20-15 ATS and 3-1 in the tournament.
