A hectic two days leaves a rare matchup of the two teams who were actually supposed to move on into the Round of 32. VCU and Michigan is an extremely intriguing matchup with the winner moving on to the Sweet 16. College basketball odds are found at Top Bet sportsbook.
VCU (27-8) has now earned a spot as one of the final 32 teams left standing. Finishing the regular season as the second best team in the Atlantic 10, VCU were highly touted as a team who could have a lot of potential to make a long run in the NCAA Tournament. Shaka Smart and the Rams had no trouble with 12-seed Akron in the first round by blowing out the Zips by an outrageous 46 points. The Rams were relentless and even kept pressing while up by more than 40 points.
Michigan (27-7) should be a much tougher opponent for VCU than the Zips were. The Wolverines were talked about as one of the top five to ten teams for much of the season but finished on a weak note. They still earned a 4-seed in the Tournament and dismantled South Dakota State by 15. Michigan’s guards look to get after VCU and try to stifle that tough, physical defense that the Rams play.
VCU is 11-17 against the spread and Michigan is 16-16-1.
I have struggled with this matchup from when the bracket was first selected and announced on Sunday. I have gone back and forth on this and I believe that either team has the ability to make it to the Final Four. Burke and Hardaway are incredible for Michigan but VCU’s defense is so tough, so physical and it absolutely never stops. VCU is my pick to advance to the Sweet 16 and to take the Rams Click Here.
