In week three of the preseason head coaches will play their starters extended minutes with some playing into the third quarter. With less than two weeks until the start of the regular season it is time for starters to get in game shape to play a full four quarters.
The Vikings have begun the preseason with a record of 0-2 with losses to the Houston Texans at home and on the road to the Buffalo Bills. The team has struggled for points as they netted just 13 points in their 14 point loss to the Texans and last week managed 16 in their 20-16 road defeat at Buffalo. They have had a tough time on both ends of the field. The team in preseason has averaged just 276 yards a game ranking 276th in the league. On defense the Vikings are the worst ranked defense in the preseason as they have allowed 409 yards per game to their opponents. Teams have run for 153 yards a game against Minnesota as that ranks near the bottom of professional football.
San Francisco is 1-1 in the preseason with a 10-6 home loss to kick off the preseason to the Denver Broncos and last week the team traveled up to Kansas City and defeated the Chiefs 15-13. The San Francisco defense has played well this preseason by allowing just 195 yards per game ranking first in all of football. Despite some rather poor offense numbers starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick has taken very few snaps in the first two games and figures to play into the second half on Sunday.
With our NFL preseason pick for Sunday we will play on the San Francisco 49ers -3 points against the Minnesota Vikings at the sports books.
