The Minnesota Vikings will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football. Get your NFL odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Tampa Bay is coming off of a tough loss in week 7 vs. the Saints dropping a 42-35 decision to New Orleans. On the bright side, Josh Freeman had an excellent game throwing for 420 yards and 3 touchdowns in what might have been his best outing as a pro. The Bucs actually outplayed the Saints, but in the end penalties did them in including an illegal touching penalty that negated the game tying touchdown. Tampa will look for a better performance this week from their secondary as they were lit up last week by the high-flying Saints. Their rush defense will need to be stout as well against the Vikings’ quality rush offense.
The Vikings are one of the surprise teams in the NFL and have gotten out to a 5-2 start to the season. Christian Ponder has played very well early in the season and has solidified the QB position for Minnesota which has been a big reason for their success. Their defense has also been better then anyone thought entering the season only allowing 18 points per game. If Jared Allen can get pressure on Josh Freeman and force Tampa to run the ball, it could mean a lot in determining the winner of this game.
We like what we have seen from both of these teams this season after not much was expected of them entering the season. We like the points Tampa is getting in this one on the road and will take the Buccaneers as point spread underdogs at the sports books.
