The St. Louis Cardinals host the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for game 2 of their series. Get MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Cardinals pulled out game one of this series and they still have a slim lead in the NL Central. Tyler Greene’s clutch home run was the difference for the Cards yesterday who totaled 4 runs on nine hits. Jaime Garcia had a solid outing on the mound only letting up 2 runs in 7 innings. Adam Wainwright will start tonight for the Cardinals. Wainwright got off to a rough start this season, but it looks as though he is rounding into shape. He has a 5.77 ERA thus far early on in the campaign.
The Padres are having a tough time this season, but they look as though they might be about to turn the corner. The Padres offense only amassed 3 runs on eight hits for the game. Edinson Volquez will get the start tonight for the Padres. Volquez has been solid this season as he has allowed just 18 earned runs in 53 innings. His ERA is solid as well as he has posted a 3.04 mark thus far.
St. Louis is 2-5 in their last seven games as a home favorite, 1-4 in their last five games against the N.L. West, and 2-6 in Wainwright’s last eight starts. San Diego is 16-38 in their last 54 against a team with a winning record, 6-24 in their last 30 as a road underdog, and 4-1 in Volquez’s last five starts. San Diego is 11-36 in their last 47 games in St. Louis.
Although Wainwright seems to be improving, we just cannot ignore the great odds that Volquez is getting in this one. Take the Padres and the moneyline at best sports books.
