The Beltway series continues tonight as the National meet the Orioles in Washington D.C. Up to date odds for this game can be found at Just Bet sportsbook.
The Washington Nationals tend to be involved in low scoring games and on Friday they ended up losing a close game in extra innings. Ian Desmond, Bryce Harper, and Ryan Zimmerman all had two hits, but the Nats could only score one run. Edwin Jackson pitched eight quality innings, but did not factor in the decision. Ross Detweiler will try and even the series tonight for the Nats. While he has cooled down a bit from his torrid start he still only has a 2.75 ERA in 39 innings pitched.
The Orioles are one of the best stories in baseball as they won last night to push their record to 26-14. Nick Markakis hit what would become the game winning home run in extra innings. Jake Arrieta pitched well after a couple of down outings. He only allowed one run in his 7 innings pitched. Jason Hammel gets the ball tonight for the O’s. Hammel has been great all season long and has an ERA of 2.68 and even more impressive has 41 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched.
Washington is 5-2 in their last seven interleague games, 17-9 in their last 26 games as a favorite, and 4-1 in Detweiler’s last five home starts. Baltimore is 8-0 in their last eight road games, 7-1 in their last eight game two of a series, and 2-5 in their last six interleague games. Baltimore is 2-4 in their last six games in Washington.
We expect both pitchers to pitch well so we feel comfortable with the under in this one at best sports books.
