The Yankees and the Indians will face off on Tuesday in game two of their series from New York. All MLB odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Yankees are playing good baseball right now and it looks as though they will separate themselves even more from the pack in the AL East before the All-Star break. The Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10 games and currently have a 2.5 game lead in the division. The Yankees will send Phil Hughes to the mound tonight versus the Indians. He had a rough outing his last time out, but prior to that had really been hitting his stride. Hughes is pitching to a 4.94 ERA in 78 innings pitched this season.
The Indians have been right in the AL Central race all season and seem to relinquish their lead as soon as they get there every time. They are 5-5 in the last 10 games and currently sit 0.5 games behind the White Sox in the division standings. Their pitching will need to improve if they want to stay in the race for the duration. Today the Indians will send Justin Masterson to the mound who is pitching very well at this point in the season. In 97 innings of work he is pitching to a 3.98 ERA for the season.
New York is 10-2 in their last 12 games against a right handed starter, 22-7 in their last 29 games overall, and 26-9 in Hughes’ last 35 home starts. Cleveland is 4-0 in their last four games against a right handed starter, 1-5 in their last six road games, and 2-6 in Masterson’s last eight starts in game two of a series.
There are certain times in a season where the Yankees get on a very big role. This looks to be one of those periods. So right now in our opinion it would be foolish to take action against them. We’ll take the Yankees as a moneyline favorite in this one at best sports books.
