The Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies will close out their series from Milwaukee this afternoon. All odds for all games can be found at Top Bet sportsbook.
The Brewers although they are not the team they were last year they do play hard on a nightly basis. They came up short yesterday and lost to the Phillies despite three hits and a homerun from reigning MVP Ryan Braun. They will look to rebound this afternoon behind the left arm of Randy Wolf who has lost his last three decisions. Wolf is pitching to a 5.65 ERA having given up 169 hits in 135 innings of work this season.
The Phillies although they have struggled this season, looked pretty good in their win yesterday. They got enough on offense for Cole Hamels to earn his 14th win of the season. Jon Papelbon secured the victory with his 27th save of the season and the Phillies will look to Kyle Kendrick for similar performance this afternoon. In 103 innings of work Kendrick is pitching to a 4.53 ERA this season.
Milwaukee is 8-1 in their last nine home games, 3-9 in their last 12 games against the NL East, and 1-4 in Wolf’s last five starts. Philadelphia is 16-6 in their last 22 games against the NL Central, 3-12 in their last 15 games as a road underdog, and 1-4 in Kendrick’s last five starts. Philadelphia is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings of these two.
This is a tough one to call because neither pitcher really excites us. We will take the Phillies at almost even odds because we feel they are just playing better right now with our sportsbook betting.
