The Tampa Bay Rays will face the Miami Marlins in game one of their series from Tropicana Field. All up to date odds and trends for this game can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Rays are coming off a series in which they were swept by the New York Mets and as a result dropped in the standings. They sit 2.5 games back in the division and will be looking to gain ground this weekend when they face the Marlins. In game one of the series Tampa will start Matt Moore. The righty beat the Marlins in his last start and has allowed 67 hits and 68 innings of work this season.
The Marlins we’re on a roll as of about a week ago and now have come back to earth. They have won just 2 of their last 10 games and are currently seven games back in their division. The Marlins have yet to break out with their stellar offense and will be looking for Carlos Zambrano to get things started right from a pitching perspective on Friday night. Zambrano has excellent numbers and is experiencing a career rebirth this season with the Marlins. He has only allowed 58 hits and 76 innings of work.
Tampa Bay is 2-7 in their last nine home games, 1-4 in their last five interleague home games against a right handed starter, and 2-7 in their last nine games as a home favorite. Miami is 6-1 in their last seven games as a road underdog, 13-4 in their last 17 road games, and 4-0 in Zambrano’s last four road starts. Miami is 8-21 in the last 29 meetings of these two.
We really like what we’ve seen from Zambrano. Although the Rays will be hungry for a win we are going to take the chance and try to cash in on Miami as a money line underdog at online sports books.
