Two division rivals square off tonight as the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians start their series from Target Field in Minnesota. All MLB odds and trends can be found at BetOnline sportsbook.
The Twins are out to an awful start and have the worst record in baseball. Nothing has gone right for the Twins early on this season. They are just 6-12 at home this season and are in dead last in the division. The Twins have been equally bad on both sides of the ball as they have hit .236 as a team offensively and their pitching numbers are not that good either. Their starters have combined for a 6.57 ERA which is obviously awful on every level. Carl Pavano gets the start tonight for the Twins and his numbers indicate an up and down season and he has pitched to a 5.02 ERA and has allowed 50 hits in 43 innings of work.
The Cleveland Indians had a firm grip on the AL Central before this past weekend when they lost 3 of 4 games to the Red Sox. They are now just one game in front of the Tigers for the division lead. The Indians have been winning with timely hitting and defense as none of their numbers are overly impressive. They are just hitting .245 as a team and have a staff ERA of 4.39 which isn’t terrible, but usually not indicative of a first place team. Jeanmar Gomez gets the ball for the Indians tonight who has lost 2 of his last 3 outings and for the season he has pitched to a 4.66 ERA.
Minnesota is 15-44 in their last 59 overall, 20-41 in their last 61 as a home underdog, and 3-7 in Pavano’s last 10 home starts. Cleveland is 8-1 in their last nine game one of a series, 1-6 in their last seven games overall, and 8-3 in Gomez’s last 11 starts. Cleveland has won eight of their last nine meetings of these two.
Neither of these two teams really excite us in this one and neither is really playing very well at all. We will take the home dog in this case. Give us the Twins at online sportsbooks.
