The Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels will start a weekend series tonight. All MLB odds can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Mariners are an enigma to say the least. One night they can look awful against average competition and the next they beat good teams. They are 9-9 at home this season and trail the Rangers by 6.5 games in the AL West which is good for 3rd place. As a team the Mariners are just hitting .233 which has masked the fact that the Mariners pitching staff has actually been pretty decent. Their team ERA is 3.89 and Jason Vargas takes the ball for them tonight in Game 1 of the series. Vargas has been exceptional allowing 49 hits in 64 innings which has equaled a 3.34 ERA.
The Angels are probably the biggest disappointment thus far during the young season. They are a terrible 9-15 on the road this season and Albert Pujols is hitting just .213. Dan Haren will try to get them off to a good start tonight, but even the usually solid Haren is in a funk. Haren is having his worst season as a pro as he has allowed 60 hits in 55 innings pitched.
Seattle is 5-1 in their last six games overall, 5-2 in their last seven home games, and 5-1 in Vargas’ last six home starts. Los Angeles is 8-15 in their last 23 road games, 1-4 in their last five games against a left handed starter, and 0-4 in Haren’s last four starts. Los Angeles is 36-16 in the last 52 meetings for these two.
We think that the number is a bit to low and we actually like the over in this one at online sportsbooks.
