The Seattle Mariners travel to San Diego to take on the Padres to begin a three game series. All up to date MLB odds can be found at Just Bet sportsbook.
The Padres enter the game tonight as one of the worst teams in baseball and they are definitely building for the future. They are just 14-23 at home this season and sit 18 games back in the NL West. Their pitching isn’t terrible, but their offense is only amassing a .229 team batting average. They will turn to Clayton Richard in order to get on the right track this weekend. Richard has won his last two starts and is pitching to a 3.94 ERA in 91 innings of work so far this season.
The Mariners also come into this series struggling and have completely fallen out of the NL West race. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games and a result are 13.5 games back in the division. They will send Kevin Millwood to the hill tonight to try and take game one of the series. Millwood actually has been pretty good this season only letting up 71 hits in 75 innings of work.
San Diego is 5-11 in their last 16 games following a loss, 1-4 in their last five games as a favorite, and 4-0 in Richard’s last 14 interleague starts. Seattle is 3-8 in their last 11 games against the N.L. West, 5-2 in their last seven interleague road games, and 5-2 in Millwood’s last seven starts. Seattle is 1-4 in the last five meetings of these two.
This is actually a pretty good pitching matchup considering these are two awful teams as a whole. We like Millwood a little better which is why we will take the Mariners at nearly even moneyline odds online sportsbooks.
