The Cleveland Indians will host the Minnesota Twins tonight in the second game of this AL Central series. All odds and trends for this game can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Indians have struggled lately, but showed some signs of turning it around yesterday when they jumped all over the Twins. They belted 14 hits and scored 7 runs en route ot the easy win. Derek Lowe did enough to earn his 7th win of the season and Josh Tomlin will look to continue the Tribe’s winning ways in game 2. Tomlin is coming off of a loss in his last start and is pitching to a 4.99 ERA so far this season.
The Twins have been struggling in all phases all year and that continued on Friday night against the Indians. They only could scratch out 1 run on 6 hits offensively and their pitching staff let up 14 hits. PJ Walters will look to get things back on track tonight. He has actually been one of the bright spots for the Twins this season and is pitching to a 2.96 ERA, but in only 27 innings of work.
Cleveland is 10-4 in their last 14 games against a right handed starter, 2-5 in their last seven games overall, and 4-1 in Tomlin’s last five starts. Minnesota is 16-36 in their last 52 games as a road underdog, 15-39 in their last 54 games against the A.L. Central, and 16-41 in their last 57 games against a right handed starter. Minnesota is 1-11 in the last 12 meetings of these two.
All of the trends and signs point to a Cleveland win here. We just really like what we have seen from Walters this season, so we will take the + ML odds and go with Minnesota in this one at the sports book.
