The Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers will square off today in Arlington. Odds and trends for this game and all others can be found at Top Bet Sportsbook.
Detroit will be looking to get on a winning track and stay there to try to make a run for their American League Central crown. The Tigers pitching has been pretty good lately, but surprisingly their offense has let them down. This was the case on Monday as they beat Pittsburgh, but needed a great pitching performance out of Justin Verlander to do so. He pitched a complete game and today the Tigers will look to pitcher Rick Porcello to give a similar outing. Porcello has been up and down all season as evident by his 106 hits allowed in 80 innings of work.
Texas rebounded after a loss on Saturday to the Rockies to come back yesterday and beat the Rockies 4-2. The Rangers have won 9 of 11 games overall and still have a comfortable lead in the AL West over Oakland and the Angels. They’ve gotten consistent hitting and pitching all season thus far and Matt Harrison was good yesterday on the mound as the offense picked up timely hits. The Rangers will start rookie Justin Grimm tonight who is making just his second career start. He defeated Houston to earn the win in the first start of his career.
Although this is not something we really like doing we are going to go with a favorite who’s pitching a rookie pitcher. Although Grimm is sort of an unknown commodity we just think that the Rangers bats will overwhelm Porcello. Give us Texas as a moneyline pick in this one at the sports book.
