The Chicago Cubs wrap up their three game series in Pittsburgh vs. the Pirates. Get the MLB odds at BetOnline sportsbook.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have been surging of late and they sit just 4 games back of the division lead in the NL Central. The Pirates won yesterday via a hit batsman in the bottom of the ninth to take the win. Kevin Correia who started for the Pirates did not factor in the decision and had a subpar outing. Erik Bedard will start for the Pirates today and has struggled in his recent outings, but has amassed a lot of strikeouts nonetheless. He has 48 K’s in 46 innings and has a 3.52 ERA thus far on the season.
The Cubs have now lost 11 in a row and the tough times continue them. As a team they scored just 2 runs on 6 hits and the lone bright spot was an Alfonso Soriano home run. Matt Garza will try and snap the streak this afternoon and rebound from what was his worst outing of the season his last appearance. Garza has only allowed 36 hits in 48 innings and has a 3.72 ERA thus far.
Pittsburgh is 15-36 in their last 51 game three of a series, 5-1 as a home favorite of up to -150, and 4-1 in Bedard’s last five starts. Chicago is 7-19 in their last 26 games against a left handed starter, 3-14 in their last 17 games overall, and 7-2 in Garza’s last nine starts against the N.L. Central. Chicago is 4-2 in their last six meetings in Pittsburgh.
We like the Pirates in this one because right now we think the Cubs are finding new and innovative ways to lose games at sports books.
