The Colorado Rockies and the Seattle Mariners meet for Game 2 of their playoff series this afternoon from Coors Field. All MLB odds can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Rockies are in some trouble here early on in the season and need to turn it on quick if they want to get back in their division race. They actually were two hit against the Mariners last night which might have been their low point thus far this season. Alex White took the loss last night despite only giving up 2 runs over 7 innings of work. The Rockies look to right the ship tonight as they send Christian Friedrich to the hill for his third start of the season. Although the sample is limited, he has been solid this season pitching to a 1.38 ERA thus far.
The Mariners have been up and down this season, but Friday’s two hit performance by Kevin Millwood was definitely one of the more positive moments of the season for them. Matt Karp homered to lead the Mariners offense with a home run. Jason Vargas will start for the Mariners tonight. Vargas lost his last outing, but has been solid overall pitching to a 3.28 ERA in over 57 innings of work.
Colorado is 37-15 in their last 52 interleague games, 3-11 in their last 14 games overall, and 1-5 in their last six home games. Seattle is 42-19 against the N.L. West, 19-47 in their last 66 road games, and 2-5 in Vargas’ last seven games as a road underdog. Seattle is 1-4 in the last five meetings of these two.
We like the Rockies in this one but the odds are too high, so just take them with the spread in this one at sports books.
