The Texas Rangers will host the Oakland Athletics in Game One of their two game series tonight in Arlington. All up to date odds for this division matchup can be found on Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Rangers have built themselves a nice little lead in the division, but have not been playing lights out as of late. They are just .500 in their last 10 games, but still have a 4 games lead in the AL West. Josh Hamilton has been outstanding this season hitting .402 and he is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball. The Rangers’ pitching staff has been solid as well. As a team they are pitching to a 3.27 ERA. Yu Darvish will toe the rubber for the Rangers tonight. Darvish has adjusted well to MLB winning four of his five starts thus far this season. He has struck out an impressive 51 batters in 44 innings of work.
The Oakland A’s are one of those teams that does not impress you on paper, but they will always give you everything you can handle on the field. They are only hitting .218 as a team which is really holding them back as a team from winning on a consistent basis. Tom Millone will get the start tonight for the A’s and Millone has been on a role lately winning 4 of his last 5 decisions. He has only allowed 35 hits in 42 innings of work and is pitching to a 3.92 ERA.
Texas is 11-3 in their last 14 home games against a team with a winning home record, 47-23 in their last 70 games overall, and 6-1 in Darvish’s last seven starts. Oakland is 5-2 in their last seven road games, 4-1 against a team with a winning record, and 4-1 in Milone’s last five starts. Oakland is 2-12 in the last 14 meetings of these two.
We are not sure why, but we like the A’s in this one. With odds like they are getting on the ML we think it is enticing enough to take a flyer on them at sports books.
