The Cardinals dropped game one of this series by losing yesterday in extra innings. Matt Carpenter, Allan Craig, and Carlos Beltran all hit homers for the Cardinals and Beltran had 4 hits on the night overall. Jaime Garcia had a less than stellar outing last night allowing 5 runs in 5.2 innings pitched and did not factor in the decision. Adam Wainwright will take the hill tonight for the Cardinals and it looks like Wainwright might be rounding back into form after struggling earlier in the season.
The Braves continued their hot play with the extra inning win yesterday. Jason Heyward was the star for the Braves hitting the game winning home run in the 12th inning. The Braves totaled 13 hits in all en route to the win. Mike Minor had a shaky outing for the Braves as he allowed 6 earned in 4.2 innings pitched. Today Brandon Beachy will get the start for the Braves. Beachy has been excellent this season as in 39 innings of work he is pitching to a 1.62 ERA.
