The Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox will meet tonight on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. You can find stats and analysis of every MLB game at Bovada sportsbook.
The entire season has been a struggle for the Cubs as was the case on Saturday in their loss to the Red Sox. They scored just three runs on eight hits and their pitching staff was not up to the task in the loss either. The Cubs will look to Paul Maholm in today’s game to try and get a win in this series. The lefty has lost his last three decisions and is pitching to a 4.91 ERA this season.
The Red Sox are still in last place in the AL East and even with their win on Saturday could not gain any ground on the division leaders. They got a strong start out of John Lester en route to the win. They will start Franklin Morales tonight a pitcher who has not started since 2009. Mostly out of the bullpen, Morales has a 3.04 ERA in 23 innings of work this season.
Chicago is 6-15 in their last 21 against the A.L. East, 4-12 in their last 16 interleague games, and 1-5 in Maholm’s last six starts. Boston is 5-1 in their last six games against the N.L. Central, 6-2 in their last eight interleague road games against a team with a losing record, and 4-8 in their last 12 games overall.
