The rubber match in the Battle of the Lone Star State plays out this afternoon from Houston’s Minute Maid Park. All MLB odds can be found by visiting our friends at Bovada sportsbook.
The Astros won last night in order to tie this series with their in state rivals the Texas Rangers. Chris Snyder, Carlos Lee, and Justin Maxwell all hit home runs for Houston who scored 6 runs on 7 hits overall. Lucas Harrell earned the win for the Astros to earn his third win of the season. Today the Astros will send Jordan Lyles to the hill to try and take the series from the Rangers. In limited work, Lyles has pitched to a 3.00 ERA in just 12 innings pitched.
The Rangers are one of the better teams in baseball, but could not overcome the pesky Astros on Saturday. David Murphy did hit a home run for the visitors, but it proved to not be enough and the Astros held on for the win. Colby Lewis will get the start for the Rangers tonight and will be looking to get back on track after losing three straight starts. Lewis has a 3.63 overall so far this season.
Houston is 10-4 in their last 14 home games, 9-21 in their last 30 against the A.L. West, and 2-14 in Lyles’ last 16 starts. Texas is 20-7 in their last 27 road games against a team with a losing record, 9-5 in their last 14 road games against a right handed starter, and 8-3 in Lewis’ last 11 starts against a team with a losing record. Texas is 21-9 in the last 30 meetings of these two.
We do not think the pitchers in this game will be particularly stellar today. We like the over if we had to put a bet on this game at the sportsbook.
